ACADIA MOOSE STORY (w/ Pictures)

On September 11. 2012:
Dana & Lena Hatch were "carpooling" into Bar Harbor, when Dana decided randomly to take a different route.
They turned off of Rt3 onto the Hulls Cove Visitor Center Entrance Road, and instead of going into the visitor center parking lot on the Right, Dana made the Left turn onto Paradise Hill Rd for a scenic drive overlooking Frenchman's Bay.
After he turned the sun shown BRIGHT in Dana & Lena's faces. It was 8:30 am.
Lena said , "Oh my, WHO is that walking in the middle of the road?!".
Next moment, they both got "it", and Dana immediately pulled the car over, as Lena grabbed the door handle and the camera bag.
Dana was out in a minute and following "it" into the woods, Lena's heart was racing and she wondered what to do.
Dana said, "Run down the road."
Lena started running, camera in hand, dress clothes and shoes on...looking into the woods, darkened and thick with skinny trees. She could see a bit of Dana and that he was motioning to continue straightaway.
Lena got to the road intersection and headed left, up the hill a bit, and across the street...Camera ready. Poof, there before her eyes, the Acadia MOOSE!
He crossed the street and stopped to pose and she got a few shots of his side views while Dana got a good rear shot.
The moose turned straight ahead and proceeded to move forward. Lena, forgetting where they were, followed into the woods just in time to see the moose approaching the Visitor Center's back granite steps and the moose ascending them!
Lena later called the Park Rangers and verified their sightings at that point, from standing near the indoor copy machine- what a view!
A Passerby on the sidewalk later called Lena to say they had a peaceable sidewalk encounter and view of the 1 1/2 - 2 year old Acadia moose, before he went straightaway towards the woods again on the opposite side, justa mooseying along.
What an awesome September day!
YAY, there is an Acadia Moose SEE...
